Andy Hoffman, father of Jack Hoffman, retiring from law firm
An open house will be held in Atkinson on Thursday, October 8, as Hoffman hands the reins of his law firm over to Brent Kelly.
After years as a lawyer, as well as serving as an advocate for patients of pediatric brain cancer, Andy Hoffman is calling it a career and spending more time with his family.
An open house will be held in Atkinson on Thursday, October 8, as Hoffman hands the reins of his law firm over to Brent Kelly. Kelly, who became the Holt County District Attorney five years ago, will continue to serve Hoffman’s clients and maintain the same office location.
Hoffman and his family received national attention seven years ago when Hoffman’s son, Jack, a pediatric cancer patient, scored a touchdown in Nebraska’s spring game. That touchdown won the younger Hoffman an ESPY Award for Best Moment.
The two Hoffmans, Jack in particular, developed a friendship with former Nebraska running back and current New England Patriot Rex Burkhead, as they helped gain awareness for pediatric brain cancer through the Team Jack Foundation. Andy Hoffman steered the ship for much of the fundraising and awareness effort at Team Jack.
Jack, now a high school student at West Holt, plays football for the Huskies, while Andy announced his own battle with cancer this summer. Despite his recent diagnosis, Andy Hoffman has continued his fight against childhood brain cancer, recently announcing a book he’s recently written that will be released this fall — Yards After Contact: Scoring a Touchdown Against Childhood Brain Cancer. The book details Jack’s fight against the disease. Burkhead wrote the foreword to the book.
Next week’s open house will be at the Andrew Hoffman Law building in Atkinson from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
