COLUMBUS, Neb. -- An accident occurred in Platte County Friday afternoon sending one to the hospital.

Friday afternoon, deputies with the Platte County Sheriff's Office responded to a single vehicle rollover collision near the intersection of Highway 22 and 325th Avenue.

Police say that the investigation indicated that a Chevrolet Colorado, driven by 65-year-old Mary Pinney of Genoa, had been traveling westbound on Highway 22 when it left the roadway and entered the north ditch.

Authorities say that Pinney's vehicle continued to travel the ditch where it struck the roadway at 325th Avenue. The vehicle then rolled, ejecting the driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle.

Policed say that Pinney was transported by Monroe Rescue to the Columbus Community Hospital where she was then flown by helicopter to CHI Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha.

Pinney remains in critical condition.

Police say that seatbelts were not in use at the time of the collision.

The accident remains under investigation.
