Norfolk man arrested on drug charges early Sunday

A Norfolk man is facing drug charges after a Sunday morning arrest in northeast Nebraska.

NORFOLK, Neb. – A Norfolk man is facing drug charges after a Sunday morning arrest in northeast Nebraska.

Officers were called to the 200 block of West Maple for a suspicious vehicle. The caller stated that a pick-up truck was parked and running, but no one had been seen exiting the vehicle.

The vehicle had moved into the 600 block of N 3rd Street by the time officers arrived, according to an NPD press release. An officer approached the pick-up truck and had contact with the registered owner who was identified as Pedro Nolasco, 23, of Norfolk.

During this contact the officer said they could smell marijuana. In a search of the vehicle, officers recovered marijuana. A small amount of cocaine was also recovered from Nolasco.

Nolasco was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
