NORFOLK, Neb. -- Norfolk city council approved two construction contracts during Monday's meeting, with both aiming to fix some of Norfolk's roadways, according to the council.

The first contract which was approved was for repairs was Benjamin Avenue from 13th Street to 1st street. The contract was awarded to BX Civil and Construction Inc. of Dell Rapids, S.D., for the amount of $13,175,170, the lowest of the bids submitted to the city.

According to city planner Steven Rames, the project would start this year and be completed in 2023. The repair involves one mile long of four lanes, which will be reconstructed into a 5 lane with a center turn lane.
