NORFOLK, Neb. -- There was a bit of a wild goose chase in northeast Nebraska Thursday evening...except the chase involved something bigger than a bird.

A black cow escaped from a semi truck in Norfolk on the Highway 24 turn going toward Stanton.

The Norfolk Police Department said the tailgate got loose, and the animal took the opportunity by the horns.

The cow then ran onto the highway, away from authorities, and eventually entered a pasture of longhorns.

With the help of Nebraska State Patrol, the Stanton County Sheriff's Office and a local, the cow was caught once again.
