First responders battle grass fire northwest of Norfolk

UPDATE: Authorities said one man has been pronounced dead as a result of the fire.

NORFOLK, Neb. -- Authorities and first responders were on the scene for a grass fire northwest of Norfolk Monday morning.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office and Norfolk Fire and Rescue responded to the blaze near 550th and 844 Road at approximately 11:00 a.m.

Authorities on scene would not comment on the cause of the fire or the extent of any damage or injuries. The Madison County Sheriff's Office and the Norfolk Fire Division have not yet provided additional comment or details Monday afternoon. 

The Madison County Sheriff's Office blocked entry to the area, citing safety concerns.
