NPS still in need of teachers despite recent hires
The Norfolk Public Schools board of education approved a number of contracts for their district last night.

NORFOLK, Neb. -- The Norfolk Public Schools Board of Education approved a number of contracts for the district Monday night.
The hires had been previously announced throughout the last few months, but only became official during Monday night's vote. All were passed unanimously, without any board members raising objects to the candidates. The hires come at a crucial time as concerns continue to mount over teacher shortages. The board made it clear that the shortage was not limited to just the NPS district, but statewide and nationwide as well.
Those hired to positions during last night's meeting include:
- Zach Ahrenholtz: Social Studies Teacher at the Senior High
- Tyler Beranek: Assistant Principal at Norfolk Middle School
- Amy Brown: Principle at Grant Elementary
- Kristin Colvey: Family Consumer Sciences Teacher at the Senior High
- Amber Lenton: Dean of Students/Activities Director at Norfolk Junior High
- Carla Miles: 4th Grade Teacher at Jefferson Elementary
- Alexis Phillips: Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher at the Senior High
- Amanda Smith: 4th Grade Teacher at Jefferson Elementary
- Judy Stepp: SPED Program Specialist
- Tracy Trumper: Science Teacher at the Junior High
