NORFOLK, Neb. -- A Norfolk man is dead and a bridge has been closed after a pickup hit a UTV on Norfolk's north side Tuesday afternoon.

The Nebraska State Patrol said around 2:20 p.m. they were dispatched to a fatality crash involving a pickup and a utility vehicle.

Authorities said 79-year-old Howard Remmich was killed in the crash.

Patrol officials said Remmich was on a UTV parked in the northbound lanes of the Victory Road Bridge near the northeast industrial highway when he was struck by a pickup driven by 91-year-old Lloyd Spreeman of Norfolk.

The Patrol said the impact ejected Remmich from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash also damaged the bridge, which officials said will keep Victory Road in the area of the accident closed for an undetermined amount of time due to damage that the bridge sustained from the crash.

There's been no word on any citations related to the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.

The State Patrol was assisted by the Norfolk Police Division, Norfolk Fire Division, Stanton County Sheriff's Office and the Madison County Attorney and Sheriff's Office.
