NORFOLK, Neb. -- National Hispanic Heritage Month was celebrated in a northeast Nebraska town on Saturday.

The Elkhorn Valley Museum in Norfolk hosted a Hispanic Heritage Festival all-day Saturday, highlighting all of the things the Hispanic community does around Nebraska.

The celebration included food vendors, live music, a bounce house, prizes to win, and much more.

Mayra Mendoza, who is the Minority Outreach Coordinator for the Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce, said the event was all about showing appreciation to the Hispanic community around northeast Nebraska.

“We put together [the event] last year,” Mendoza said. “It was well attended and so we know that people are wanting to come to these events. Celebrating our Hispanic heritage and what we contribute to the community.”

The event ran from 11:30 am until around 7:00 pm Saturday night.
