Norfolk emergency snow route parking procedures in event of a snow emergency
As the state of Nebraska prepares for severe weather conditions, residents in the city of Norfolk should be prepared in the event of a snow emergency declaration.

NORFOLK, Neb. -- Like many communities in Nebraska, a special parking ban would go into effect if Norfolk issues a snow emergency.
Emergency snow routes are plowed first to keep essential services functioning during major snow events, and residential streets are plowed immediately after.
The designated emergency snow routes are strategically planned in order for residents to only have to travel within a few blocks from their homes to be able to get to a plowed main street.
During the time of a declaration, on roads where it is typically fine to park on both sides, parking will be restricted to only the side of the road with even numbers.
Parking on either of the road of an emergency snow route is strictly prohibited, as it would cause difficulty with snowplows in efforts to clear the roadways.
Officials are authorized to move vehicles in violation of parking prohibitions or restrictions during said snow emergency declarations.
Snowplow trucks and motor patrols tend to start plowing routes within the city at around 2 a.m.
If officials were to ever alter the current declaration in place, a notice will be given out with new information along with reasoning for said changes.
