Janssen named NSIC South Division Player of the Week, two weeks straight

WSC's Jordan Janssen was named the NSIC South Division Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second straight week, and the third time this season.

WAYNE, Neb. --- Wayne State College fifth year forward Jordan Janssen was named the Northern Sun Conference South Division Men’s Basketball Player of the Week by the league office in Burnsville, Minnesota Tuesday afternoon following his play in Saturday’s 71-63 home win over Augustana. It’s the second straight week, third time this season and eighth overall in his career that Janssen has been named NSIC Player of the Week.

A 6-7 forward from Lincoln East High School, Janssen poured in 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in leading the Wildcats past Augustana. He made 6 of 9 shots from the field and connected on 11 of 12 free throws in the win while also recording four assists and two steals. It was Janssen’s fourth straight double-double, raising his season total to eight.

This season, Janssen ranks third in the NSIC in scoring at 21.1 points per game and leads the league in rebounding with 9.6 boards per contest. He also ranks fourth in the league in field goal percentage (.571), 10th in free throw percentage (.802) and is tied for seventh in steals at 1.4 per game.

Wayne State is 11-3 overall and leads the NSIC South Division with a 6-2 league mark heading into this weekend’s NSIC road trip at #25 MSU Moorhead (11-2, 6-1 NSIC) Friday and Northern State (10-3, 6-1 NSIC) Saturday.
