NORFOLK, Neb. -- A 58-year-old Norfolk man was arrested for drug charges and terroristic threats after attempting to enter a residence.

The Norfolk Police Division said it responded to a suspicious man that was at a residence in the 1500 block of Pasewalk Ave. around 10:30 p.m., Friday.

According to police, the home resident reported that a man they didn't know was knocking on their door and trying to enter the home.

NPD said that when officers got to the location, they found 58-year-old Jerry Yelli of Norfolk.

Authorities reportedly told Yelli that the residents of the home didn't want him there.

Norfolk Police said that during a subsequent search of Yelli, officers found a glass pipe that tested positive for methamphetamine.

Yelli was taken into custody.

While being transported to the jail, Yelli made numerous profanity laced comments about wanting his handcuffs to be removed so he could fight the arresting officers, NPD Capt. Michael Bauer said. Yelli also reportedly threatened to kill officers, Bauer claimed.

Yelli was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and terroristic threats.

He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
