NSAA names new members to Student Advisory Committee

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Nebraska School Activities Association has announced its newest members of the NSAA Student Advisory Committee for the next two school years.
The newest additions to the committee include:
Ainsworth – Emma Kennedy
Bertrand – Emma Brown
Burwell – Calah Archibeque
Fairbury – Karelin Deras-Hernandez
Malcolm – Tristen Boehle
Lexington – Christian Burton
Mount Michael Benedictine – John Mohs
Norfolk – Jay Koozer
Omaha South – Charlotte Gregor
South Platte – Cordell Frerichs
They will join the 10 seniors serving their second term.
Out of a pool of several applicants, ten were selected to serve for their junior and senior years. The students were selected from Nebraska’s six NSAA districts.
According to NSAA officials, the selection process was extremely competitive and focused on recommendations by school personnel, participation in various interscholastic activities and athletics as well as gender, school classification, and minority representation.
The Student Advisory Committee helps to promote the mission of the NSAA, encompassing leadership, sportsmanship, and integrity. The focus is on providing education and leadership through open and honest communication with all member schools and their students, administrators and coaches, NSAA officials said. All recipients were nominated by their school's activities director.
Duties and responsibilities including discussing current student and Association issues, assisting with various Association functions, helping to maintain an avenue of communication between the Association and the student participants themselves, and creating and implementing initiatives within schools, communities and school conferences.
