STANTON, Neb. -- Authorities were called to a physical disturbance in Stanton County that led to the arrest of a 32-year-old Stanton man.

The Stanton County Sheriff's Office said they arrested 32-year-old Coty Payne on Sunday afternoon.

Around 3 p.m., SCSO said they were called to a home in Stanton for a physical disturbance between a Payne and his partner.

Before arriving to the home, the Sheriff's Office were told by a witness that Payne had fled in a vehicle and was believed to be intoxicated.

Payne was found within a few minutes at the vehicle about a block away, according to SCSO.

In an investigation that followed, SCSO said they found that he allegedly assaulted his partner while children were present, and then drove away from the home while intoxicated.

Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger said that Payne was arrested for domestic assault and disturbing the peace.

Unger said after testing, Payne was found to have more than 2.5 times the legal driving limit of alcohol in his system.

Payne was booked at the Sheriff's Office for aggravated third-offense DWI (above .15% BAC).

Payne was jailed pending the setting of a cash bond.
