NORFOLK, Neb. -- The Nebraska State Patrol said they arrested three people on Monday following a narcotics investigation.

The NSP said they were assisted by the Norfolk Police Department in the arrest.

On Monday morning, NSP investigators said they were conducting an investigation in the 1000 block of Jonathan Circle when they saw two subjects exit a house, appeared to have placed something under the hood of their PT Cruiser and drove away.

The NSP said a trooper found the same PT Cruiser a short time later in the parking lot of Northeast Community College, with no occupants.

Investigators said they continued their investigation in the 1000 block of Jonathan Circle when they saw the two people returning to the same house on foot.

A Norfolk Police K9 was requested by the NSP to conduct a sniff on the PT Cruiser that had been abandoned at Northeast Community College.

Officials reported that the K9 detected the odor of a controlled substance.

The NSP said a search of the vehicle revealed methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Investigators said they obtained a search warrant for the residence on Jonathan Circle.

Before serving the search warrant, the person who had been seen driving the vehicle exited the house voluntarily and was taken into custody.

34-year-old Maurice Blacktaildeer of Omaha, was arrested for driving with a suspended license, possession of meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Investigators said they served the search warrant on the house and found additional meth and drug paraphernalia.

The subject who was seen in the vehicle was 33-year-old Corey Sholes of Norfolk. Sholes was arrested for two counts of possession of meth and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Authorities said that another occupant in the home was 45-year-old April Zephier of Norfolk.

Zephier was arrested for possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.

All three were lodged in Madison County Jail.
