STANTON, Neb. -- Two teens were sent to the hospital after their car lost control on a gravel road.

The Stanton County Sheriff's Office responded to the Lake Maskenthine area for a single-vehicle accident on Saturday at 6 p.m.

According to authorities, the crash occurred on a gravel access road where the driver of the vehicle lost control, resulting in it rolling over onto its top.

Both occupants of the vehicle were reportedly sent to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said they believe seat belts lessened the teen's injuries and speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

The car is believed to be a total loss.
