NORFOLK, Neb. -- On Earth Day weekend, volunteers throughout Norfolk were out to clean up city parks.

Over 50 volunteers signed up for the seventh annual Clean the Fork Day.

A focus this year was on the city parks as Ta-Ha-Zouka, Skyview, and Norfolk Skate Park were all locations people were dispersed to.

With their business alongside the Elkhorn River, Norfolk Outfitting Owner Lita Stuthman said it is important to keep the city’s parks and rivers clean.

“This is Earth Day weekend," Stuthman said. "Take a look around your house [and] your yard. Get everything picked up that can effect the environment. You want to do this every year to take care of mother Earth.”

Stuthman said she hopes throughout the year, residents in Norfolk continue to keep Norfolk clean.

The city wide clean-up ran from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Saturday.
