MADISON COUNTY, Neb. (PRESS RELEASE) — A Pierce man has died after jumping from a vehicle moving at high speeds in rural northeast Nebraska.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to the area of 845 Road and 549 Avenue for a report of an injured person who had jumped from a vehicle on Sunday at around 9:41 pm.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue arrived on scene and provided aid before transporting the person to the hospital.

The man, later identified as 22 year-old Jayden Sporleder of Pierce, died from his injuries at the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle told deputies Sporleder jumped out of the passenger door of the pickup truck while it was moving at nearly 60 mph.

He then fell under the vehicle and was struck by the truck.

The sheriff’s office believes alcohol was a contributing factor, but the driver was not believed to be under the influence.

There is no indication of foul play and the incident remains under investigation.
