NORFOLK, Neb. -- Parents were notified of a threat made by a student towards the Junior High before school Thursday morning.

The Norfolk Jr. High School sent out an email to parents stating that the Junior High Administration was made aware of a student making threatening comments towards the school outside before school.

The administration said that they, along with the Norfolk Police Division, investigated the threat and the situation is being handled through their code of conduct guidelines.

It was reported that there is not threat to staff or students at this time.

As always, all reports are taken seriously and the school says they want to remind everyone that if students make threats or accusations, they will handle those according to the Norfolk Public Schools handbook disciplinary guidelines.

There will be school and legal consequences for students who threaten violence towards others. We take all comments seriously and investigate them fully.

Our school prioritizes the safety and security of all students and staff. When we become aware of situations that may compromise that safety, we immediately address the concern and send communication to parents as needed.
