LINCOLN, Neb. -- Gov. Jim Pillen joined a gathering of female athletes, lawmakers, and advocates at the White House Wednesday as President Donald Trump signed his executive order titled “No Men in Women’s Sports.”

The event coincided with the 39th Annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

In August 2023, Pillen became the second governor in the nation to enact a Women’s Bill of Rights.

This legislation, introduced by Senator Kathleen Kauth on the governor’s behalf, builds upon the executive order.

LB89 provides protections for girls and women competing in sports and ensures their privacy in facilities designated for their use, prohibiting access by individuals of the opposite biological sex.

“I signed the Women’s Bill of Rights, which affirmed that men are men and women are women, and today, I was honored to be at the White House with President Trump as he signed his No Men in Women’s Sports executive order into federal law,” Pillen said in a press release.
