OMAHA, Neb. -- A final goodbye for Nebraska State Patrol Trooper Kyle McAcy, being laid to rest after being killed while working a crash scene on the interstate.

A procession started at the Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral home at 9 a.m. on Thursday, as they slowly made their way south to Liberty First Credit Union Arena.

Among those taking the podium to speak about McAcy included Gov. Jim Pillen, Col. John Bolduc with the state patrol, members of McAcy's family and fellow officers.

Lt. Eric Kauffman met McAcy when the fallen trooper started with the State Patrol 10 years ago. He said McAcy was a loving son, friend and a great Nebraskan.

"Dedicated public servant. He loved serving the citizens of Troop A and greater Nebraska as well. Loved to teach, loved to try to help people. He would be very happy with the outpouring of support today," Kauffman said.

McAcy was working a scene on the I-80 the morning of Monday, Feb. 17 when a snow plow truck accidentally hit him. He died at the scene.
