NORFOLK, Neb. — A special event was held at the Norfolk VFW, organized by the Norfolk Elks and Northeast Community Action, to support veterans, including those who may be homeless. A hot meal was provided for all attendees, complete with dessert and drinks.

Veterans had access to vendors offering health care, mortgage information, employment opportunities, and free haircuts. Each veteran received a care package with essential items, a $20 fuel gift card, and a box of bathroom essentials like toilet paper, towels, a toothbrush, deodorant, and razors.

"It’s the least we can do for the men and women who sacrificed so much for our freedom," said Carol Coolidge, Norfolk Elks chair and event organizer.
