Firefighters battle blaze at Wayne county farmhouse

Firefighters from multiple departments battled a blaze at a multi-story house in western Wayne County on Monday afternoon <br/>

WAYNE COUNTY, Neb. — Firefighters responded to a farmhouse fire in Wayne County Monday afternoon.

The blaze, reported around 2 p.m., occurred at a residence located at 85265 562nd Ave., approximately 5 miles north of Hoskins and 6 miles west of Winside. 

Heavy smoke was visible from a considerable distance as firefighters from Wayne, Hoskins, and Winside arrived on the scene. Crews used extra oxygen tanks and personnel to combat the fire.

The homeowner escaped the fire without injury. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
