HOWELLS, Neb. (KOLN) - An Eastern Nebraska student was arrested after a classmate allegedly found his phone recording herself and others showering in a high school locker room.

On Dec. 12, 2025, investigators with the Colfax County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Howells-Dodge Consolidated High School after it was reported that seven female students were recorded while showering in the school’s locker room.

The phone was seized and its owner was identified as an 18-year-old male student at the school, investigators said.

Throughout the investigation, the sheriff’s office learned that the high school’s locker room was shared between boys’ and girls’ sports teams, allowing the suspect to enter the room to place his phone, court documents show.

After executing a search warrant for the student’s phone, investigators located a 26-minute video depicting the seven girls showering while undressed, the arrest affidavit states.

On Feb. 9, the sheriff’s office arrested the 18-year-old student under suspicion of the attempt of a class 3 felony and intent to image/video a person without consent.

The student’s bond was set at 10% of $5,000, which he filed Tuesday. He is due back in court Feb. 24.
