Man flown to Omaha after accidental shooting at Norfolk home
Police say firearm discharged inside residence; victim flown to Omaha, in stable condition

NORFOLK, Neb. — Police are investigating an accidental shooting reported Thursday morning in a Norfolk residence.
Officers with the Norfolk Police Division responded around 11:41 a.m. to a home in the 900 block of West Meadow Ridge Road for a reported shooting.
When officers arrived, they found an adult man with a gunshot wound to the chest. Police said the man was conscious, alert and able to speak with responders.
Norfolk Fire & Rescue also responded. The man was flown by air ambulance to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha as a precaution.
Preliminary findings indicate the shooting was accidental. Investigators say the firearm was being handled inside the home when it discharged, striking the victim.
Police said both people at the scene gave consistent accounts of what happened, and there is no indication of criminal intent.
The man is reported to be in stable condition, and medical personnel do not expect any significant changes.
Officers have completed their on-scene investigation. No charges are expected at this time.
The case remains under investigation pending final reports.
