Fremont man sentenced to 13 years in prison for meth charges
A 26-year-old Fremont man was sentenced on Friday to 13 years in prison for drug charges.
By News Channel NebraskaOMAHA, Neb. -- A 26-year-old Fremont man was sentenced on Friday to 13 years in prison for drug charges.
The Acting U.S. Attorney said that Jarrett Chappelear was sentenced in federal court in Omaha for distributing methamphetamine while possessing a firearm.
Chappelear was sentenced to eight years in prison for distribution and five years in prison for possessing a firearm during a drug transaction, totaling 13 years.
After Chappelear is released from prison, he will begin a four-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
The court documents said that on Oct. 29, 2021, the Nebraska State Patrol in Norfolk used a confidential informant to buy 1,245 grams of pure meth from Chappelear.
It was reportedly that not too long after the controlled buy, troopers stopped Chappelear driving away.
Authorities said that Chappelear was found to be in possession of an FNS 9mm handgun with two spare magazines of ammunition.
This case was investigated by the NSP.
