NORFOLK, Neb. — Kalin M. Bennett, 23, of Norfolk, was arrested on charges of terroristic threats and child abuse following a domestic disturbance on November 16, 2025.

Norfolk Police responded to a call at approximately 4:09 PM on the 1000 block of West Pasewalk Avenue, where they found a tense scene involving Bennett and several witnesses. According to reports, Bennett had been in an argument and then retrieved a firearm from his vehicle.

Witnesses reported that Bennett was seen pacing near the vehicle, brandishing the firearm and demanding his car keys. He allegedly struck the firearm against the vehicle’s window, causing a nearby child to cry in distress. Witnesses stated they feared for their safety, believing the firearm to be real.

Statements indicated that Bennett brandished a black rifle-style firearm with a curved magazine, making threats to shoot the victim if his keys were not returned. A video provided to the officers showed Bennett concealing an object in his right hand while pacing near the vehicle. The video revealed what appeared to be a firearm magazine.

After the recording ended, another male, identified only by his first name, reportedly took the firearm and fled the scene. The firearm has not been recovered.

Bennett was initially held at the Norfolk City Jail and subsequently transferred to the Madison County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
