Madison county addresses polling location moves following redistricting
Madison County is set update polling locations to align with precincts, potentially affecting 6,000 to 10,000 voters, who will be notified of any changes
MADISON COUNTY, Neb. — Following redistricting in early 2022, Madison County officials are working to ensure voters are properly informed about potential changes to polling locations. The redistricting process led to concerns that some polling locations might have been moved into different precincts.
Madison County Clerk and Election Commissioner Anne Pruss said, "We want to make sure voters within their precinct are going to a polling location that is located within their precinct."
Previously, some polling locations were serving multiple precincts, but the county's new plan creates a single location per precinct.
This will also bring voting closer to voters and could cut travel time in half.
County officials anticipate that these changes could impact anywhere from 6,000 to 10,000 people. In March 2026, the county plans to send letters detailing potential changes to voters, ensuring they are fully aware of the possible adjustments. Additionally, a postcard reminder will be sent to voters before the May primary election.
Anyone seeking information about their polling location or wishing to express concerns can contact Anne Pruss at the Madison County Courthouse at 402-454-3311. Pruss is willing to address concerns, reevaluate the situation, and determine if any changes can be made to the discussed locations.
