Icy weather causes multiple accidents in northeast Nebraska

MADISON, Neb, -- Icy weather caused five accidents Wednesday night in northeast Nebraska, leaving several injured.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office said they were dispatched to Highway 81, just south of Norfolk, around 8:00 p.m. for a reported rollover accident. The driver of the vehicle was reportedly ejected from the vehicle.
While on the way to help with the accident, another accident took place on Highway 81, near the bridge that is south of the Ta-Ha-Zouka Park.
Officials said they found out that the driver of the second accident had a warrant out for their arrest and they took him into custody. During this time, the third accident happened.
The third accident was reportedly south of the first accident on Highway 81. The driver of the vehicle was reportedly trapped inside and had to be cut out. The driver was reported to be in critical condition.
MCSO said the fourth accident took place next when a vehicle lost control and rolled into a field on Highway 81.
The final accident reportedly happened near Tilden when a pickup and semitruck collided.
All of the accidents reportedly had severe or critical injuries sustained to the drivers except for the driver of the second accident that was arrested.
Road crews were reportedly called to start deicing the roads. The Nebraska State Patrol and Norfolk Fire and Rescue were on the scenes of the accidents to help MCSO.
This is a developing story.
