WSC students win two film festival awards
Two movies that were made by students at Wayne State College received awards at a recent film festival.

WAYNE, Neb. -- Two movies that were made by students at Wayne State College received awards at a recent film festival.
The WSC students traveled to Arkansas City, Kan. on March 31 and April 1 for the BisonBison Film Festival.
The BisonBison Film Festival is open to filmmakers in accredited colleges, universities, and technical schools in the Mid-America Arts Region: Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, and Texas.
Only 15 films are accepted at the festival and Wayne State had five make it in. The films chosen were “Gills” by Griffin Presnell, “Girl” by Emma Franco, “Exodus” by Nathan Blizzard, “The King of Berry” by Nathan Gusman, and “It’s the Journey” by Joe Merkel.
The award for Best of Show was given to writer/director Presnell, of Lincoln, and producer Ally Boyd, of Papillion, for their film “Gills." Line producer Lazara Gonzalez presented the award to Presnell and Boyd. Gonzalez has worked on “The Big Bang Theory,” “Grimm,” “Modern Family,” and “Ender's Game.”
Writer/producer/director Gusman, of Wahoo, and his co-director, Gage Dawson, of Neligh, were awarded the People’s Choice Award for their film “The King of Berry.” A $1,000 cash prize was given to the producers of the winning films.
