PIERCE, Neb. -- An annual fundraiser in the northeast Nebraska area returned for its 13th year on Saturday.

The Zion Lutheran Wild Game Feed drew in hundreds of community members to raise funds for the Zion Lutheran School.

A main organizer for the fundraiser Lydee Jo Krueger said she almost couldn't believe the turnout throughout the evening.

She added it takes a lot of people to work together to make the fundraiser successful.

"It takes our whole school and congregation," Krueger said. "Many hands make light work and we have an amazing committee. I get choked up thinking about all of the people that help. It's all hands on deck all week."

Krueger said each year the fundraiser always hopes to raise at least a dollar more than the previous year.

"We'll be ecstatic if we can raise $80,000 tonight," she added. "That's our goal. Hopefully we hit it."

The event was held at the Pierce County Fairgrounds. Krueger said if you couldn't make the event but would still like to donate to the cause, you can visit their website to learn more.
